Thom Stone

London seems to be awash with singer-songwriters; earnest young individuals emulating what has gone before. It is not difficult, however, to see that Thom Stone, although he may be an acoustic guitar playing singer-songwriter, stands apart from this group.

The past year has been particularly busy for Thom, with a hectic live schedule including appearances at O2 Wireless, Electric Gardens and Secret Garden Party, a trend that will continue this summer. Last year also saw a number of high-profile supports, including Greg Allman at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Laura Marling and I Am Kloot, as well as national tours with Matt Costa (on Jack Johnson’s label Brushfire) and Foy Vance (Universal). Thom also played a well-received set at last year’s In The City, supporting Kid Harpoon (XL).

Thom Stone’s track ‘She Knows’, a particular live favourite, was picked up by XFM’s Marsha Shandur earlier this year, and has been featured on E4 sit-com ‘The Inbetweeners’. His first single sold out quickly, having received excellent write-ups and support from Radio One’s Huw Stephens, amongst others. His debut EP is now in its fourth pressing. 2008 looks set to be even busier; a prolific songwriter, Thom will be releasing three EPs over a three-month period during the autumn, culminating in an extensive nationwide tour.
